THERE ARE STILL 34 OF THE REMAINING OLD ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSES IN CLARK COUNTY AND THEY ARE SHOWN ON THIS SITE. THE ERA OF THE ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSES WAS MOSTLY FROM THE 1870s THRU TO THE 1920-30s, AND AT ONE TIME THERE WERE PROBABLY ALMOST 200 OF THESE SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY.
TO MAKE SURE IT TRULY WAS A ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSE AT ONE TIME IN THE PAST, BEFORE ANY OF THE SCHOOLS WERE PLACED ON THIS SITE, I VERIFIED THE ACCURACY OF THE LOCATION THROUGH A DUPLICATE VERIFICATION PROCESS. ALSO, EVERY HOUSE THAT IS POSTED ON THIS SITE IS COMPRISED OF THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE ORIGINAL SCHOOL,WHICH IS ALSO PERSONALLY VERIFIED. ALTHOUGH SOME HAVE HAD SIDING ADDED, OR OTHER MODIFICATIONS, THEY HAVE KEPT THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE UNDERNEATH OF IT. EVERYTHING THAT IS POSTED IS TRULY WHAT CONSISTS OF ALMOST ALL OF THE ORIGINAL SCHOOL HOUSE.
PLEASE REALIZE ONLY SO MANY SCHOOL POSTS CAN BE PLACED ON A PAGE, SO IN ORDER TO SEE MORE SCHOOLS, YOU MUST CLICK ON "OLDER POSTS" AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. TO ENLARGE THE SCHOOL FOR BETTER VIEWING, JUST CLICK ON THE PHOTO.

CLARK COUNTY COURTHOUSE
SPRINGFIELD, OHIO
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP
The present court house was begun in 1878, and finished about the 1st of January, 1881. The building was designed in the popular Second Empire style. The square building was constructed of limestone, with a rusticated foundation and smooth stone blocks above. The courthouse caught fire about 1 o'clock on the morning of March 12, 1918, and destroyed the interior and most of the exterior. The courthouse standing today is a mix of old and new, and was rebuilt from 1918-1924 by architect William K. Schilling. Parts of the exterior walls were saved from the 1918 fire and were reconstructed. The ground floor is still rusticated with smooth blocks on the first and second floors.
